Today was at Mount Amakazari.
As usual, we made our approach by electric-assist bicycle and rubber-boot hiking, eventually arriving at our familiar creek.
The snow conditions were perfect.
“Alright then, shall we change boots and start skiing?”
…which is normally what would happen. But for some reason, today we ended up setting up hammocks instead。。
And once you set up a hammock, you sit in it, right?
And once you sit in it, you lie down, right?
And once you lie down… well, yes, that was basically the end of the day right there。。
I never realized birdsong could sound this loud and clear.
Fresh green leaves, a gentle breeze, the swaying motion, and blue skies
overhead. It wasn’t cold at all ー actually it was pleasantly warm. Nobody
wanted to move.
“Maybe we could just stay like this all day…”
“Yeah… maybe…”
And just like that, nearly an hour disappeared.
“They say hammocks melt time.”
Yep. It absolutely melted away.
Eventually we slowly crawled out, put our skis on, and started with a bit of slope maintenance. But somehow my whole body still felt fluffy and half-floating. Even once skiing, it felt like I wasn’t fully connected to the ground. Just couldn’t quite snap back into proper mode.
“This is bad,” I thought, and suggested a hike over toward Arasugasawa for a change of pace. Part of the plan was also to wake ourselves up with a rubber-boot downhill session.
And finally ー yes yes yes ー normal operating mode restored!
After returning, we managed a few proper long runs.
So yes, we did actually ski after all.
…which of course led directly into another hammock session.
There is simply no way that doesn’t feel amazing.
And yes, time melted away properly once again.
Once the timing felt right, we headed back down.
To finish the day: an open-air hot spring beneath a ceiling of fresh green leaves.
Ahh… another truly good day.
S-san, M-san ? thank you as always〜。
