Kicking off the ski touring season with our first step-soulful trip of the season to Tsugaike Nature Park!
As for gear, it’s got to be a light ski setup. G-san and I went with soft 75mm boots (CRISPI BRE GTX and SYDPOLEN GTX) and waxless skis. G-san’s Fischer skis come stock with step-cut bases (OFFTRACK CROWN) and a half-skin (EASY SKIN)ーnice setup. Interesting! Our third member, Y-san, joined on NNNBC. Three of us in total.
Since the gear is light and easy to walk in, we started from the top of
the ski resort and made our way along the forest road. Walking along, chatting
away at an easy paceーthis is just the best. We reached the nature park
in under an hour and a half. It had snowed two days earlier, covering everything
in pure white. What an incredible view!
Riding that momentum, we headed for the viewpoint. About 40 minutes later,
we arrivedーabsolutely breathtaking. Man, this place really is something.
We dropped our packs and took a couple of runs. Such a picture-perfect
scene. Totally satisfying!
On the way back, we took it easy with safety first. Looking back up at
our tracks, they had that gentle, flowing XCD-style curve. Beautiful. Tsugaike
Nature Park is just perfect for XCDーthe conditions are all there. Definitely
come with a light setup and give it a go.
