While tidying up the storage room, I came across an old pair of SMITH ski poles I used to ski with.
“Oh wow… how nostalgic.”
I picked them up and took a stance-they were surprisingly long.
“So this is the length I used back then,” I thought, as memories came flooding back through my body.
Why not use them again?
Come to think of it, it’s been 30 years.
First, I heated the grips with a heat gun and pulled them off.
Then I cut 9 cm off with a pipe cutter.
Grips back on.
That brings them down to about 116 cm.
Nice. Just right.
If I’m using SMITH poles, then the skis have to be VOLANT.
And of course, the goggles should be bolle, and the wear SOS.
Naturally.
With that decided, I started rummaging through the clothing boxes.
“Ahh… this feel of bolle goggles.”
“And SOS-yeah, I mostly wore the parka-style jackets.”
So many memories, all at once.
That day, I skied only three lift rides.
And that was more than enough.
It was simply fun-really fun.
It’s funny how it works.
My body remembers the feel of the things my wear.
Alright then-
let’s ski again tomorrow.
