Morning Glory on Skis
After skiing from dawn through sunrise, I was already completely satisfied!
By around 8:30 a.m., I was honestly thinking, “Well, maybe I’ll just crack a beer and wait for the sunset.”
But then again… with all those untouched slopes gleaming out there, was it really right to sit inside the hut watching “24” on my laptop?
Blue sky above, white snow below.
Alright then?time to head out again.
I left the hut at 9:30.
On the first steep pitch, I started skiing seriously?only to realize after finishing that I’d completely forgotten to take off my climbing skins.
Didn’t even notice while skiing!
Turns out, you can actually glide better than expected with the skins still on.
The mellow slopes were just as I’d hoped?untouched, untracked, perfect.
Riding those soft undulations was pure fun.
On the way back up for seconds, I even shot a few selfies.
Not bad at all for non-plastic boots, I must say?self-praise fully intended.
Returned to the hut by 11:30, fully content.
I thought I’d take it easy for the rest of the day, but instead I got caught up editing and uploading the morning videos.
Next thing I knew?it was already evening.
Ah, such a “busy” life up here in the mountains...
