The second photo from the top is a photo of the water surface with a hazy reflection of new green leaves. Hmm? I have an image of this. When I think of water surface, do I think of water lilies? Or Ophelia? Yes, it was Ophelia. And it wasn't Millais', it was Redon's Ophelia. Yes, Odilon Redon who painted "The Laughing Spider". There was a collection of art or a catalog in a backpacker in New Zealand, and I used to look at it while drinking beer. So I searched for it again, and there it was! The color of the leaf in the middle matched my image clearly. And it overlapped with this photo! And that's it. Hmm. Speaking of Redon, he has a work called "Guardian Spirit of the Sea" and later, when I was looking at a picture book for children in Japan, I thought, "Ah, this is Redon!" It was a picture book by Shinta Cho. Shinta Cho's picture books are great. I love them. So, even though it's a little late now, I thought that Cho must have been inspired by Redon... but that's just my own fantasy. I searched the web to see if that was the case, but I couldn't find anything. Well, I love Redon's work and Cho Shinta's work. May 23, 2025
