The beech forest around the parking lot has become greener. Buds have started
to sprout. This means that the bud scales (the orange/or brown ones in
the photo above) that protected the buds from the cold have fallen off.
I look at the snow surface. The whiteness from three days ago has turned
completely orange. The combination of green and orange is beautiful and
typical of this time of year. Since this is a good opportunity, I will
ski around here again today. My equipment is CRISPI's soft shoes SYDPOLEN,
MADSHUS's EON with 3 pins. The design allows you to walk with a soft touch,
so you can ski with a soft touch. I went here and there, searching for
a course in the softly undulating beech forest. This feeling of wandering
around is heel-free. Or rather, that feeling is the center, as if it were
the core. Yes, that's exactly it. Well, in the second half, I found a slightly
steep slope, so I did a check hop turn there. I tried it out of nowhere
and was surprised that it worked better than I expected! It's like the
coordination of various parts of my body just fell into place by chance
(lol)! When doing a check hop turn, you need to be able to stop exactly
at will. And the movement needs to be as quiet and soft as possible. It
doesn't want to be a jump turn that you cut into with a bang and forceful
technique. This time, a skid on the landing is allowed. However, it is
also possible to come down leaving just two lines. This is a wonderful
technique that I learned in NZ. From now on, if you go into the mountains,
you will be able to access steep slopes here and there. And with specifications
like today, it will be fun to work hard to perfect it. For me, it's wonderful
to be able to do such things alone in the mountains. May 11, 2025
