I ended up buying a used electric assist bicycle. It's a mama-chari type.
The wheel size is 24 inches. There's a big basket in front. A carrier on
the back. Mudguards on the front and back. Three-speed internal gears.
Light. And the important point: a new battery! So finally, an electric
assist bicycle has been introduced to Mahoroba Club (←apparently they're
planning to introduce a 26-inch one soon! What's up, Mahoroba Club?). So
I loaded up my skis and headed on. Hmm... the low saddle, which was acceptable
in the city, was extremely difficult for hill climbing. No matter how much
the assist helps, pedaling with a degree of knee flexion that I'm not used
to is uncomfortable. And eventually it started to hurt a little. Hmm, I
need to replace the seat post, even though it's long. All that's left is
the handlebars. At least a flat bar. Hmm? ? On the other hand, I'm very
impressed with the loading capacity of mamachari. In other words, it's
a basket in the front. You can just throw your backpack and boots in there.
It's super convenient. And there's a rear carrier at the back. You can
securely fasten your long skis and feel safe. Another thing I'm really
happy about is the upright position that's unique to mama-chari bikes.
A negative aspect of hill climbing is that it's great when going downhill!
Because your upper body is upright, you can see the scenery well. It's
the season for a green tunnel with the new leaves shining. You don't have
to look up at it anymore. And your neck won't get stiff. You can just face
forward and enjoy the beauty as you go down! It's wonderful. However, because
the brakes are for mama-chari bikes in the city, it's important to ride
at a slow and steady speed without going too fast. Enjoy the scenery and
the breeze at a leisurely pace! So that's the announcement that the electric-assist
mama-chari bike will finally be introduced to Mahoroba Club. Please make
use of it in various ways. May 8, 2025 P.S.: I immediately changed the
seat post to a longer one. THOMSON 420mm.
