Well, skis with a center width of 90mm are probably not called fat anymore,
but, in fact, the first gear specs that people who are just starting out
in telemark skiing buy are skis of this width, NTN bindings, and NTN boots.
Yes, there are! Just last week, I actually ended up not giving a lesson
to a customer who came to take a lesson, saying, "This set doesn't
work for us" . Well, I can't tell someone who has already spent a
lot of money to buy their gear, "This is no good," so I kept
emphasizing, "Not with our method." Hmm, but... When I asked,
he said he wanted these specs because he wanted to ski on the mountain.
And for now, he plans to practice telemark position and telemark turns
on groomed slopes with these 90mm skis. Hmm. I also heard that he took
a lesson at another telemark ski school. He said he repeatedly practiced
telemark position on traverses. As a result, he was disappointed that he
could not find any sign of being able to do it. And within a few days,
he bought an AT set. Center width 100mm. Since then, he has not done telemark
but has been skiing on the slopes with AT. However, since he has the equipment,
he felt like he would try telemarking again, so he watched YouTube, and
finally found our ski school. And when he came, the above happened. Hmm.
What went wrong? Or is there a hopeful development for the future? If you
want to learn telemark turns on the slopes, it would be effective to use
skis with a center width of 70mm or less, which is suitable for groomed
snow. Also, even though it is AT, it is the same groomed environment, so
a center width of 100mm is a disappointment. Generally, it just slips off.
I don't want you to be the kind of person who runs past children at high
speed. For groomed snow, prepare skis with a width suitable for groomed
snow. And I want you to learn the fun of operating skis, not just riding
them. . Of course, I didn't choose the set this morning with such thoughts
in mind, but I once again felt that it is really difficult for us Japanese
to make the most of NTN... as I watched last week's event from the outside.
