It was mid-afternoon after a heavy snowfall. Our guest was Mr. S. We both
went to the nearby backcountry on VOILE's CHARGER BC skis (← best for
deep snow). Naturally, we were hoping that someone would be there in the
morning, but we went in the afternoon, and to our surprise, there was no
one walking on the forest road. Oh no. First step. The snow is too deep.
The step cuts don't work. Ah, time for the skins. Good thing I brought
them. This might be the first time I've used skins on this forest road.
I was breaking through the snow with my thick Chargers on. And it was a
gentle forest road. It was a tough battle. And then we reached the slope.
As expected, no tracks. Phew. One step at knee level, and then another.
Still, it was strange because I felt more motivated than walking on the
forest road. After all, breaking through snow is something you do on a
slope. The zigzag path is complete. From the second time onwards, we can
go up using only step cuts. Now it's time for the drop. Mr. S is doing
well, even though it's his first time using these skis. Oh ==. He must
be thinking this while skiing. In his head, "Where can I buy this?"
It's obvious. The second and third runs went well. I also took selfies
with ease. In the video, I've added slow-motion references to the lesson
I'll be doing this weekend. Check it out if you want to hear about it.
Those who have taken the B-tele course will understand. We finished after
three runs. We did it. And then we said, "You really have to walk
in heels free!" And then we added, "That was too easy..."
"How about we try BC cross-country tomorrow?" "That sounds
great!" And so it always starts off lightly like that... Looking back
on it... To be continued tomorrow... January 30, 2025
