Started walking at 6:10. Headed to Makinoiri. Equipment: flat-soled telemark skis, seals (also called skins), and T4 plastic boots. A forest road runs through Makinoiri with a gentle slope, and yesterday, I faithfully traced this forest road when descending from above, leaving two lines on my way down. The image is the creation of two ski tracks (also called cutters) used in cross-country classics. And the next morning, I used these tracks to walk on my skis with skins on. It might be similar to the "seal walking" done by ban.K from Hokkaido. In English, it would be something like "ski-walking with skins"? Well, I think seal walking is a coined word, but I think it's a good way to express it in an easy-to-understand way. So, this is the video and report of "I went seal walking from the morning". Now, like classics, I made two tracks first so that I don't have to worry about unnecessary things. I just ski along the tracks. Since we were using skins, there was no need to worry about slipping. The forest path had a gentle slope, so we didn't get too out of breath. From what I could tell, this was probably right in the middle of the aerobic range. We walked for exactly one hour, which was enough. This was my first time trying it, and this course and style were great for aerobic exercise. A new discovery! I've been living here for years, but there are still new discoveries to be made. January 6, 2025 |
