Goryu 47 again today. The video is from the afternoon session. I was wearing
goggles and fully prepared. I actually came in the morning too, but I wore
my usual sunglasses, but they immediately fogged up and I couldn't see
anything. I had no choice but to go home. I ate lunch and came back for
the afternoon session. Things I learned. I'll wear goggles on snowy days.
I'll keep them in the car when I go out. That's good! Now, I'm sure many
of you are curious about the appearance, but the first thing that's fluttering
around is shirikawa. This is made of rabbit fur. There are times when the
seat of the lift is frozen or wet, right? Especially on a snowy day like
today. The calm and flatness of the mind that can be achieved by sitting
with this piece of leather underneath... There seems to be another option
to wear hip protectors under your ski pants, but I'm not sure... Now, next
is the SKYHOY binding, right? It was introduced around 1999-2000. This
is still a telemark binding that is compatible with the 75mm norm. For
those who started with NTN today, it may look like "What is this ==!?",
but for us at the time, it was much less of an impact. "What?! Is
this the future of telemark?? Wow." At the time, there was no way
we could imagine what NTN would be like 10 years later. Now, SKYHOY. Despite
this excessive mechanicalness, it is quite comfortable to use. I also like
this kind of gimmick, so I still use it occasionally. I have a few spare
bindings in stock (← there is a problem with deterioration over time).
Also, if you just stand there wearing these, no one will know you are a
telemark skier. Because it looks like you have a binding on your heel.
This also keeps your mind calm and level (huh?). And finally, VOLANT. It
has a stainless steel cap structure that shines brightly. Therefore, it
is resistant to twisting. The board itself is thin and bends easily. And
yet they don't twist. In a way, they are the ideal skis. I absolutely love
the feel of this ski. In the past, I had over 10 telemark bindings. They
are still unmatched in terms of off-piste maneuverability and stability
(←this is purely my personal opinion). I like to look at the top sheet
shining brightly in the sun and grin, that's why I take the last lift in
the evening. Hmm. And that was my introduction to the three pieces of equipment
I used today. Actually, I wrote a long article about technique, but...
Oh well, I'll stop here this time. December 6, 2024 |
